Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy Chennai Hosts Honorary Convocation and All India Urdu Mushaira

Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy marked Republic Day with a grand honorary convocation and All India Urdu Mushaira on January 26 and 28, 2024. The event commenced at Qaid Millat Government Arts College for Women, Chennai, followed by a session at the Tamil Nadu Baitul Mal function hall.

The esteemed Awqaf Minister, Mr. Chanji Mustan Sahib, graced the occasion as the chief guest, inaugurating the event and distributing certificates to successful participants of writing and speaking competitions. Dr. Wasim Bari Sahib orchestrated the first meeting, where Dr. Naeemur Rahman Sahib, the Vice Chairman of Urdu Academy, honored distinguished guests and awardees.

Eminent figures including Mr. Alexander Donodo, Consul General of Russia, and Dr. Raja Hussain, Registrar of BS Abdul Rehman University, adorned the gathering with their presence. Dr. Rahman advocated for a splendid library under the Tamil Nadu Urdu Academy, a proposal backed by Minister Mustan Sahib.

The second session at Tamil Nadu Baitul Mal showcased the literary prowess of Tamil Nadu's poets and poetesses. Dr. Hayat Iftikhar chaired the event, which featured Professor Sajid Hussain Nadvi's opening recitation and Dr. Tayyab Kharadi's welcoming address.

Mr. Shakeel Akhtar IPS, a senior officer of the Tamil Nadu Police Department, emphasized Urdu's promotion and urged collective efforts for its development. Poets such as Mr. Aleem Saba Naveedi and Mr. Hasan Fayyaz graced the Mushaira with their enchanting verses.

Poets like Mr. Shahid Madrasi and Ms. Ayesha Doulat were honored with medals and beads for their outstanding contributions. Dr. Ejaz Hussain, a renowned Tamil Nadu poet, conducted the Mushaira, which captivated hundreds of attendees, concluding with the Tamil Tirana (State Anthem of Tamil Nadu).

The event celebrated Urdu culture and literature, uniting enthusiasts in a memorable commemoration of Republic Day."
