The GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) has initiated a 100-day plan to transform Hyderabad into a garbage-free city. Commissioner Ronald Ross has launched a special operation focusing on achieving 100 percent door-to-door garbage collection by 9 am daily.
The initiative aims to address sanitation challenges, ensuring timely garbage collection and cleaning of road-side heaps. The 'MyGHMC' app plays a pivotal role in waste disposal and sanitation status monitoring.

Responding to a report from the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) identifying 2,640 garbage-prone areas in Greater Hyderabad, the GHMC is committed to making public spaces litter-free. Special attention is given to identifying frequent litterers and imposing fines. Sanitation Supervisors (SFA) are assigned monitoring responsibilities, each responsible for specific areas.
The municipality enforces a comprehensive plan to enhance sanitation management. Daily garbage collection, clearing streets by 9 am, and app-based monitoring involving officials at various levels contribute to the success of the initiative. The 'Sanitation Status' details are diligently recorded in the 'My GHMC' app, resulting in a significant reduction in sanitation-related complaints.
The GHMC also plans extensive campaigns to address open waste sites, improve the efficiency of clean autos, and raise awareness about clean environments and waste management in establishments like hotels.
