The complainant, Ram Chand, a Pakistani Hindu residing in a refugee camp near Signature Bridge and operating a small eatery nearby, narrated the incident to the police. On Tuesday around 8:30 a.m., two individuals in a car approached him, requesting two glasses of water.
Upon providing the water, Chand asked for a nominal Rs 5 payment. However, the situation escalated when the occupants of the car refused to pay, leading to a heated altercation and physical assault.
As a result of the assault, Chand was taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital for examination. Despite the medical evaluation revealing no visible injuries, a case of criminal assault and rash driving was registered against the accused individuals.
The car involved was identified as a Mahindra Nuvosport SUV registered in the name of Mohd Habib, a resident of Bhajanpura.
