5.8 Million Muslims Visit Prophet’s Mosque in one week

Approximately 5.8 million Muslims visited the Masjid e Nabvi (PBUH) in Medina, the second holiest site in Islam, during a week coinciding with a school break in Saudi Arabia, as per official reports. The General Authority for Care of the Prophet’s Mosque disclosed that the period covered the 28th of the lunar Islamic month of Juamad II to the fourth of Rajab.

The statistics encompassed 130,401 male worshippers and 115,551 females, with separate visit timings allotted for each gender at Al Rawda Al Sharifa, where the tomb of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is located.

Throughout the week, 123,200 packs of Zamzam water and 99,832 fast-breaking meals were distributed to worshippers in designated areas at the mosque. Additionally, the mosque annex hosted 2,492 visitors exploring the site's expansions over the years.

Post Umrah, a pilgrimage at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, numerous pilgrims journeyed to Medina for prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque (PBUH) and to explore other Islamic landmarks in the city.

Saudi Arabia anticipates approximately 10 million foreign Muslims to perform Umrah during the ongoing season that commenced over six months ago. The authorities overseeing the Prophet’s Mosque (PBUH) undertook significant efforts to accommodate worshippers from across the kingdom during the recently concluded school holiday.

The General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques enhanced services, including disinfection and cleaning, crowd management, and assistance for physically challenged and elderly visitors.
