A woman in her early thirties is facing legal consequences for allegedly marrying a man without disclosing her existing marriage, along with charges of extortion and intimidation involving her husband and associates.
Parmanand Singh from Senani Vihar locality entered into matrimony with the accused in November 2022 through a matrimonial website, where he had shared his bio data. A month later, Singh received a call from Anupam Soni, claiming to be the woman's husband and threatening Singh with severe repercussions if he continued the marriage. Singh confronted the woman, discovering that she was previously married to Anupam Soni and Ashutosh Pathak.
Singh revealed that the accused misled him about her marital status and employment, falsely claiming to be a professor at a government degree college on the matrimonial site. During marriage negotiations, she allegedly requested Rs 25,000 for a mobile phone, later claiming it broke in an accident caused by her former husband, Anupam. In December 2022, the woman reportedly absconded with Rs 2.67 lakh in cash and ornaments from Singh's house.
Singh asserted that the woman and her family were aware of his social standing and assets, suggesting a premeditated motive. The investigation into the case has been initiated by SHO, PGI, B.C. Tiwari.
