Physiotherapist Arrested for Brutal Stabbing of Wife in Lucknow

A 38-year-old physiotherapist, identified as Anandeshwar Agrahari, has been apprehended by the Lucknow police in connection with the brutal stabbing of his wife, Sandhya Sahu, 15 years after their love marriage. The incident, which occurred on December 4 in the Roshan Nagar area, involved the accused stabbing his wife 18 times during a violent argument that escalated.

Rahul Raj, Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated that the arrest of Agrahari resolved the case, with the investigation revealing that the accused cited his wife's extramarital affair and financial disputes as recurring reasons for their conflicts. Agrahari, a father of two sons, admitted to being an alcoholic and having a gambling addiction.

During police interrogation, Agrahari disclosed that the fatal argument unfolded on December 4, where he restrained his wife by cuffing her hands and legs before inflicting the multiple stab wounds with a kitchen knife. Notably, he strategically chose a moment when his elder son, Tanishq, who is differently abled and non-verbal, was asleep, preventing him from hearing his mother's screams.

Agrahari's younger son, Shaurya, aged 9, was at school at the time. Upon fetching Shaurya, Agrahari reportedly administered sedatives to ensure the child fell asleep upon returning home. Seizing this opportunity, Agrahari fled the scene, leaving Sandhya's lifeless body.

The discovery of Sandhya's murder took place on December 5 when her mother, Kamla, visited their residence in Roshan Nagar. The police successfully recovered the murder weapon, a kitchen knife, during Agrahari's arrest.

The couple's turbulent relationship, marked by disputes over extramarital affairs and financial issues, culminated in this tragic incident. Agrahari is now facing charges under IPC Section 302 (murder) based on a complaint lodged by the victim's brother, Aman Sahu, at the Thakurganj police station. The couple, who had tied the knot 15 years ago, resided in Roshan Nagar with their two sons, Tanishq and Shaurya.
